Material deformation and failure at ultra-high strain rates and very high pressures; influence of microstructure on dynamic deformations and dynamic failures, especially shear bands.

Deformation and failure mechanisms in composite materials subjected to dynamic loadings.

High-pressure rheology; rheology of microstructured fluids.

Biomimetics and active materials, especially compliant active materials.
