Jamie's
Story
Jamie
is
originally
from Vestal,
NY but spent
4 years away
from
civilization
in the south
double
majoring in
Public
Policy and
Russian at
Duke
University.
It was
during her 4
years at
Duke that
she
discovered
rugby and
her talent
for tackling
and trash
talking. She
also spent
lots of time
in the
Russian
Department
thinking of
bad Stalin
jokes and
reminiscing
about her
days abroad.
She is
currently a
graduate
student at
Georgetown
University
working on a
Master’s
degree in
International
Policy and
Development.
Her focus is
on
gender
issues and
public
health in
the former
Soviet
Union.
Jamie likes
bubble
baths, the
color blue,
and small
dogs named
Smidgen.
Cody's
Story

Cody also
grew up in
Vestal, but
further out
in the hills
where the
cows roam.
He spent
four years
at Duke
University
trying to
help his
roommate
pick up
girls and
attempting
to make his
fellow
engineers go
out on the
weekends.
Now he is
the ultimate
engineer and
is studying
for his
Ph.D. in
mechanical
engineering
at Johns
Hopkins
University.
He
specializes
in
experimental
fluid
mechanics
and spends
most days
playing with
huge laser
beams and
trying to
beat his
advisor at
addictive
computer
games. His
work can
best be
described to
non-engineers
as "hard."
Besides
Jamie, the
great loves
of Cody's
life are
coffee and
bagels - in
that order.
Our
Story
We met
during high
school when
Jamie was a
freshman and
Cody was a
sophomore,
but we both
disliked
each other
at the time
and
generally
avoided each
other for
several
years. Then
during
Cody's
senior year
we had AP
Bio together
and
eventually
became
friends
because
Jamie set
Cody up with
her best
friend for a
big school
dance.
(oops) Later
that year we
both spent
lots of time
being big
dorks in
Science
Olympiad.
True love
was
manifested
back in AP
Bio when we
were lab
partners for
the ever
exciting
fruit fly
mating lab.
We
eventually
started
dating just
after Cody
graduated
from Vestal
High School
and have
been pretty
inseparable
ever since.
We were
engaged
November 8,
2003 - so we
have been
planning for
this wedding
shindig for
more than a
year!
