Meet our new puppy....Tioga!

He is a miniature pinscher and we got him from a local breeder as an early birthday present for Jamie at the end of January.  "Tioga" is an Iroquois Indian name that means "swift current" and we felt that not only will it remind us of home in upstate NY, but it also fits his personality and energy.  In case you can't tell, he only weighs about 2 pounds right now, but when full grown he will be about a meaty 12 pounds!  Traditionally min pin ears are cropped to stand up straight as the show standard dictates, but right now he has floppy puppy ears (although they stand up more everyday).  Tioga likes warm laps, cuddling, and wearing his little doggy sweater.   He is also partial to puppy biscuits and his stuffed elephant toy.

Update:  This week at our vet visit we found out that Tioga has almost doubled in size.  We are up to 3.6 pounds!  His ears are starting to stand up a little and one usually more than the other, but the side keeps changing as you can see in some of the pictures below.  He is already starting to show a bit of Napoleon complex and look at those sharp little teeth!  Puppy school will be starting soon.

Update: Tioga (Ti for short) is now 10 months old and ten pounds - proper minpin size.  His ears are still constantly up and down and generally express his mood at any given moment.  The following pictures are an assortment from over the spring and summer.  My puppy is all grown up!
