PIV Database for the Axial Turbomachine

This database includes experimental data from two-dimensional PIV measurements within the turbomachinery stage shown above, covering the rotor inlet, rotor passage, rotor-stator gap, stator passage and stator exit flow fields. The measurements are taken at 500 rpm (Re=370,000), at mid-span and for 10 different rotor phases. The datasets given below include phase-averaged u and v velocity values and two components of the Reynolds stress, u'u' and v'v', at each and every grid point and at each phase. An additional parameter called "blade" is also included, which is either 0 or 1 depending on whether that particular grid point is within a blade or not at that particular phase. Every other grid point is shown above for clarity. This database is described in detail with sample comparisons with CFD results in:
